The article studies the dynamics and structure of Russian-Belarusian trade relations over the past twelve years. It considers Belarus’ approaches to the multi-vector nature of its foreign economic course and their evolution under the influence of external factors. The main features of trade interaction between Russia and Belarus in the pre-sanctions and sanctions periods are highlighted. An analysis of interstate documents adopted in 2021-2024 years is carried out from the point of view of their impact on deepening economic integration within the Union State. The author concludes that the two countries are moving to a new stage of cooperation, namely from transit and energy to industrial and technological connectivity. Some recommendations for further economic interaction between the two countries are offered.

Keywords: Belarus, Russia, Union State, trade interaction, connectivity, sanctions, import substitution, fragmentation of the world economy.
